Remix Royalties: Earn Credits When Your Video Gets Remixed
Publish a remixable video and earn 5 credits every time a new creator remixes it. How BoomCast's two-sided reward loop pays the original creator.
Most platforms treat a remix as flattery. BoomCast treats it as royalties: when someone remixes your video, you get paid in credits — automatically, forever, with zero paperwork.
How the loop works
- You publish a video with “Allow others to remix” on. It gets the ⟳ Remixable badge in the community feed, and its recipe — scenes, script structure, style — travels with it.
- Another creator taps Remix. They start from your recipe, make it theirs (new cast, new lines, new product, whatever), and publish.
- You earn 5 credits. Instantly, the moment their remix goes live. You’ll get a push notification; the credits land in your balance ledger.
The royalty fires once per unique remixer — one person remixing you five times pays once, but five different creators pay five times. Viral recipes compound.
Why we built it this way
Remix culture is how ideas get better. But on every other platform, the original creator gets a “inspired by” credit at best. We wanted the incentive to point the right way:
Making something remixable should be a better deal than locking it down.
So remixable videos get more distribution (they surface in the dedicated Remixable feed), and they generate passive credits. Locking your video down is always your right — but opening it up is the growth strategy.
What counts as a remix?
A remix starts from your video’s recipe via the Remix button — that’s the lineage the royalty tracks. Someone making a similar video from scratch isn’t a remix (and doesn’t owe you anything); someone building on your recipe is, even if they change every line.
You can see your remix lineage on any of your videos: open it, check the stats row, and tap the remix count to see every video that descends from yours.
Stack it with referrals
Remix royalties pair with BoomCast’s referral program: invite a friend and you earn 50 credits when they join (they get 25). A creator who publishes remixable videos and shares their invite link has two passive credit streams before they’ve spent a cent.
Publish something remixable this week — the community’s best skits started as someone else’s first draft.
